Shenika Carter

Candidate for Douglas County Assessor

I decided to dedicate my life to public service at a young age. I am the daughter of a Vietnam War Veteran and my mother worked with various nonprofit agencies including the Red Cross Disaster Relief. I was raised by a family who advocated for quality education, and equal protection under the law for all citizens. I’m running for County Assessor because I am the better choice for Douglas County.

I believe in fiscal responsibility, I will take accountability, and restore transparency between the Assessor’s office and the community. I will advocate for living wage jobs for Douglas County citizens, I want to work to improve funding for Douglas County Schools, and make public safety a top priority with accurate assessments. I currently have over a decade of Public Accounting and Taxation experience, I know what it takes to find solutions and get things done.”

Mary Hunter Lynch

Candidate for Douglas County Commissioner

I have lived in Douglas County with my husband for 23 years,  raising two children here who both graduated from Douglas County High Schools.  I am a 4th generation Coloradoan, having grown up in Pueblo as the 2nd daughter in a large Irish family.  I graduated from Colorado College with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Accounting.

I have spent most of my professional life working in information technology as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, and Entrepreneur.  I have worked for both non-profit and for-profit companies in the healthcare industry.  I have also worked in software implementation and in the Real Estate industry as a Real Estate Broker.

I am a “Polymath” which means that I am very good at seeing the big picture,  finding the root cause of problems,  and then drilling down to a detailed level in order to find the underlying facts and feasible solutions.

In summary, I find problems, identify solutions, and then fix the problems, whether that’s on my own or working with others to build trust, a reasonable consensus, and an solid action plan.

Angie Hicks

Candidate for Douglas County Treasurer
I am proud to be your Democratic candidate for Douglas County Treasurer. I live in Parker and have been a resident of Douglas County for seven years. I am married to Democratic advocate Tim Hicks, and I have two sons, Mathew, 22 and Parker, 19. Both of my boys are graduates of Legend High School.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude degree with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Jamestown, where I was also named College Fellow in Business Administration. No other candidate for Douglas County Treasurer has an accounting degree or has ever been a CPA.
I’ve decided that it is time for me to step up and give back to the community that I love. The office of County Treasurer is an administrative position, not one of traditional politics and policy-making. The people of Douglas County deserve a person with extensive accounting knowledge and leadership qualities to carry out the duties of Treasurer accurately, efficiently, and confidently. I am a former CPA, a Certified Scrum Master, and a certified business analyst working in the financial services industry. A passionate advocate for innovation, integrity and leadership, my education and experience make me an ideal candidate to serve Douglas County.
Past Douglas County Treasurers have placed much-needed focus on using technology to reduce operating costs and increase efficiency in the day to day operations of the office of the treasurer. I believe we can continue this effort and create a collaborative non-partisan office by improving communication and fiscal transparency to all residents of Douglas County.
