"Raucous Welcome" for Candidates

The Douglas County Democratic Assembly, held on Saturday March 22nd, provided a 'raucous welcome' for candidates, based on a tweet from Andrew Romanoff.

In addition to conducting the party business at hand for delegates at assembly, five candidates arrived at Mammoth Heights Elementary School in Parker to speak to the crowd: Governor Hickenlooper, Mark Udall, Betsy Markey, Vic Meyers and Andrew Romanoff.

The messages were powerful and motivating.  Governor Hickenlopper included a joke about a shark family to illustrate one of his points (you had to be there) that negative ads don't work.   Vic Meyers told about a conversation he had with some folks at a diner that morning over breakfast.   The event can be summed up by a quote from Mark Udall,  "You can't buy Coloradan's votes.  You have to earn them."

County Clerk Offers Learning Academy

"The Clerk and Recorder Division would like to thank the community members who took an active role in their government and attended the Learning Academy on Feb 12 at the Elections Office in Douglas County. Those that responded with interest in attending the event overwhelmingly chose the initial date, eliminating the need for a second event.

For the February 12 event, attendance was strong. “The conversation was engaging and educational,” said the event’s host, Jack Arrowsmith, Douglas County Clerk and Recorder. Several community leaders as well as interested citizens were present."   - The Douglas County Clerk & Recorders Office
