The next meeting of the Parker Democrats will be held next Tuesday evening, January 17, at 7:00 PM in the community room of the South Metro Fire Station #45, one short block west of Jordan Road and several blocks north of Lincoln Avenue. Go north on Jordan from Lincoln to the second stoplight and turn left (to the west.) The address is 16801 Northgate Drive.

In 2016 many Democrats thought that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) had lost touch with ordinary citizens and was not open to new ideas and new people. This perception, whether true or not, was not helpful in the campaign to elect Democrats in 2016. With the disappointing election results, changes at the DNC are desirable and inevitable. A change that already has happened, including in CO, is the selection of new state representatives to the DNC. One of our new representatives to the DNC is a Mike Hamrick, a progressive Democrat who several years ago was the Chair of the Arapahoe County Democratic Party and who is well-known by many members of the Douglas County Democratic Party. Mike has agreed to come to our January meeting to discuss the changes that are likely to happen at the DNC. For the DNC to represent us, our representatives need to hear from the grassroots about what we would like to see and where we think the Party should be headed. This is an opportunity for us to have a two-way conversation with the DNC. Try to join us for this important meeting.

We will continue to have meetings of the Parker Democrats on the third Tuesday of each month and to have discussions of timely topics. The February 2017 meeting will be on 2/21. Please put this date on your calendar.
